Bouncy Egg Experiment

Bouncy Egg Experiment

Bouncy Eggs!

What you need:

vinegar

cup

egg

dye (optional)

Directions:

1. Slowly place an egg in the cup or jar.

2. Cover the egg completely by pouring vinegar into the cup.

3. Leave sitting for about 3 days.

4. Rinse the egg off in the sink with water. (we didn't have access to a sink so we just dunked it in water and tried to rub off the 'shell')

5. Bounce the egg close to a plate. Keep trying to go higher until it breaks.

We filled out a little recording sheet when it was all said and done. Click here for the sheet and other experiments!

What we found was that some didn't crack as easily (literally have no idea why) and that if there was already a crack in the egg then the egg was almost 'cooked' when it did break. Think soft boiled egg lol. It was neat to see the shell was almost like a skin after the vinegar ate away at it. The kids really enjoyed this and if you have maybe 2-3 kids at home this will be so fun. It was fun with 17 lol....but definitely would be easier for a project at home. :)
